What We’re Proposing
Marks and Spencer is proposing a modern new store in Chichester at the former Homebase site on Barnfield Drive. The new store would offer the full range of M&S, including food, fashion, home and beauty in one convenient location.
As part of our wider plans for the area, the existing Food Hall at Portfield Retail Park will close. In Chichester City Centre, the North Street store (clothing only) will close, while the East Street store will be retained as a Food Hall.

The new store will be fully electric and designed to reduce energy use. It will be fitted with energy-efficient lighting and will support M&S’s Plan A commitments to become a net zero business by 2040.

The new store will help M&S continue with its commitment to supporting local suppliers. In the Chichester area M&S uses six local suppliers, including fruit, vegetable and plant growers.
As one of the UK's largest private sector employers, M&S is also proud to create opportunities for young people facing barriers to work through its Marks & Start programme, delivered in partnership with The King's Trust. The scheme has supported 12,000 young people across the UK in gaining valuable retail experience.
Since 2015, M&S has worked with redistribution platform Neighbourly to ensure any edible food surplus from its stores reaches those who need it most in the community, working with local food banks and charities.
