M&S is investing in a new store to better serve the needs of local customers in Chichester, by bringing together different ranges in the area, to one convenient location.

The new M&S store will offer the full range of M&S food and drink, including fresh produce, ready meals, bakery items and seasonal favourites. The proposed store will also include M&S’s fashion, home and beauty ranges. There will also be improved access and cycle parking, along with new landscaping and signage.

The site is located at the former Homebase store at Discovery Park, Barnfield Drive, Chichester.

Yes. The existing unit will be slightly extended and fully reconfigured to accommodate the new full offering of M&S. As a result of the proposed car park extension at the north western boundary of the site one of the existing sculptures in this area is proposed to be relocated.. A new entrance, cladding and signage will give the building a fresh and modern look.

Yes. The site is well connected by local bus routes, with stops nearby on Westhampnett Road and Barnfield Drive.

Yes. The new M&S store will be fully electric and designed to meet high sustainability standards. It will include energy efficient lighting and support M&S’s Plan A commitment to become a net zero business across its operations by 2040.

Dependent on securing planning permission, we hope to start works at the site as soon as possible, to bring the new store to customers by 2028.

The proposed new store will enable us to create a modern, fit for the future store. As part of this investment, the existing stores at North Street and Portfield Retail Park will close. The East Street store will remain open, but as a Foodhall only.
